(Unused) End-to-End Testing

Complete a full end-to-end test with an impact.com test partner account to:

  • Test that partner tracking links are working correctly — forwarding visitors to your landing page (or deep-linked page) with a unique ?irclickid=impacttest.

  • Confirm that conversions are being correctly reported to impact.com with all required online sale data.

  • Partners are being correctly attributed for conversions (actions).

  • Action reversals & modifications are working as expected.

Step 1: Create Template Terms & get Branded Links

Note

When testing in your live store, make sure to cancel test orders and reverse test actions promptly — otherwise your test partner account could end up accidentally receiving a commission.

1% Test Template Terms

Terms are what establish your relationship with partners — let’s create a set of test template terms for your test partner account that will pay a 1% commission for an action.

  1. From the left navigation menu, select Contracts → Template Terms.
  2. In the upper right corner, select Create Template Term.
  3. Give your template terms a name, like `Test Template Terms`.
  4. For the Event Type line item, select Online Sale
  5. .
  6. For the Default Payout line item, use the dropdowns and fields to set to 1% of order sale amount.
  7. At the bottom of the screen, select Save.

Get Branded Links

Get the unique URL that will enable you to sign up as a new direct partner to your Impact program on your test template terms.

  1. From the left navigation menu, select Contracts → Template Terms.
  2. In the list, find your test template terms you created in the last step. Under the _Actions_ column, select
    [Down Caret] → Get Branded Links.
  3. Next to Promo Page Link, copy the the full URL and save it somewhere accessible.

Step 3: Create & accept a Partner account


Sign up as a direct partner

Create a new direct partner account that's applying to your impact.com program on the 1% test template terms.

  1. In a browser new tab, paste in your Promo Page Link from the last step.
  2. Follow the prompts onscreen to create a direct partner account for your brand.

    Make sure to use a different email address and username from your impact.com brand account. Keep the username and password saved somewhere accessible, as you'll need to use it later.

    impact.com recommends adding TestPartner somewhere in the partner's name (e.g., Acme_TestPartner) to ensure everyone with access to your impact.com account knows this is a test account. Be sure to save the password somewhere safe.
  3. Select Sign Up.

Accept your test partner

Accept the test partner account's application and signs them to the 0% test template.

  1. Back in your impact.com Brand Account, in the left navigation menu, select Partners → Applications.

  2. Under New applications, find your test account application.

  3. Hover your cursor over the line where the application is and select  ⋯  [More] → Accept.

Step 4: Get tracking links, test a conversion event, submit .CSV file


Create a Link

Creates a new tracking link in the test partner account, which is used to forward traffic to your site and attributes conversions to the partner.

  1. In a new browser tab, sign in to impact.com with your test partner account credentials..
  2. On the partner Home screen, find the Create a Link widget.
  3. Select the link to copy it to your clipboard.

Complete a test conversion event

Important!

When testing, consider disabling any ad-blocking and/or script-blocking extensions that may be active in your browser to avoid potential issues. If you've configured your site to store the irclickid value in a first-party cookie, ensure that cookies aren't blocked. Make sure to use your test partner tracking link to access your site!

For the most accurate results and fastest launch time, impact.com recommends testing a conversion in your live store, then canceling the order once you've confirmed that it's been tracked.

  1. Copy your test partner's tracking link to your clipboard, then in a new browser tab, right-click the URL bar and select Paste and Go to….
  2. Once you've reached the landing page, complete a test conversion event your site with the following:

    • Add to 2 different items, each with a different SKU to the cart.
    • Add at least 1 item with a quantity value of 2 or more to the cart.
    • [Optional] If you're also tracking promo codes, apply a promo code (or coupon code) to the order. Otherwise, ignore this sub-step.
  3. Complete the order and check out, making sure to reach your store's "Thank You" or "Confirmation" page to confirm that the order went through.

Submit Conversions

See the Implementation section for details on how to submit your conversions .CSV file.

Step 5: Verify action listing & cancel test orders

Note

After successfully uploading a .CSV file, your test conversion should appear in impact.com within 30 minutes, but can take up to 24 hours before appearing. If your conversion doesn't appear in impact.com within 24 hours of the test conversion occurring, verify that your file uploaded correctly without errors.

View pending actions

  1. From the left navigation bar, navigate to Transactions → Pending Payouts → Actions.
  2. Verify that your test conversion events appears as a pending payout.
  3. Select the linked Action ID to view action details:

    • Items should show a table with all items in the order along with SKU, Category, Quantity, and Sale Amount.
    • Order ID should match the order ID your site assigned to this order.
    • Payout should be exactly 1% of the reported Sale Amount.

Cancel the order and reverse the action
